Travel Vaccinations

If you are planning on travelling abroad you may need to have vaccinations. If so, we ask you to let us know as soon as possible, and to let us have a completed travel questionnaire at least 8 weeks before travel. The form is available online, downloadable below, or on request from the reception desk.

This will allow the nurse to carry out a full assessment of your vaccination needs, and ensure that any vaccinations needed are given in time to maximise your immunity prior to travel.  Some vaccinations require a course of 2 or 3 injections given a few weeks apart, so please allow yourself sufficient time. Some vaccines are provided free of charge on the NHS, however, others such as Hepatitis B, Rabies and Japanese Encephalitis B are chargeable and have to be paid for in advance.

If you are travelling at short notice and are therefore not able to let us have your completed questionnaire 8 weeks before travel, we will ask you to make alternative arrangements at a travel clinic privately, as they will be able to offer a quicker service and/or an accelerated course of vaccination if needed. You can find travel clinics via Yellow pages or from an internet search – and some pharmacies also offer a travel service. If you are having problems finding a travel clinic, please contact us and we can suggest some local options.

We administer Meningococcal (ACWY) vaccinations to our own patients for Hajj at a cost of £70 for one dose.
